How can a DJ receive tips?
With WeSound, the DJ shows their QR code in the booth and guests request songs with a tip from their phones. Signing up is free: WeSound keeps 15% of each accepted tip and the rest goes to the DJ's bank account once they set up payments and complete verification.
What do I need to do to start receiving tips?
WeSound is an app and website to request songs from a live DJ and support them with a tip. For DJs, this is the path:
Sign up in the app
It's free. Once you sign up you have your QR code, which you can show in the booth or share as a link.
Set up payments
In the app you connect your bank account with a verification through Stripe, the provider that processes payments.
Create an event and set the minimum tip
Each event has its name, venue, night and minimum tip. Activate it when your set begins.
Accept the requests that fit
Each request reaches you with the song, dedication and amount. The guest is only charged when you accept it.
What does it cost and how much does the DJ get?
The fee only applies to tips you accept.
| Item | How it works |
|---|---|
| Signing up | Free. |
| WeSound fee | 15% of each accepted tip. |
| What the DJ gets | The remaining 85%, adjusted for any refunds. |
| What guests pay | Exactly the tip they choose, with no extra fees. |
| Declined requests | Guests aren't charged, so there's no fee either. |
Example: from an accepted €10 tip, WeSound keeps €1.50 and €8.50 goes to the DJ.
Why do I need to verify?
Because behind every tip there's a card payment, and sending money to a bank account means knowing who receives it. WeSound isn't a bank: payments are processed by an external provider, Stripe, which runs the verification.
Until you complete verification, what you receive may be held. New DJs also have a cap on tips per night until they're verified. Once verification is done, tips from accepted requests go to your account.
We don't give an exact time for money to reach your account, because it depends on the payment provider and your bank.
What minimum tip should I set for each event?
It's up to you. The minimum tip is the base of the four levels guests see: “A little thanks”, “Good tip”, “Big tip” and “Legend”, which are one, one and a half, two and a half and four times that minimum. If you don't set one, the base is €4 and the levels are €4, €6, €10 and €16.
Think about the venue and the crowd that night. A wedding isn't a club or a bar terrace, and you can set a different minimum for each event.
What does the DJ commit to?
When you use WeSound you agree to treat guests with respect and not to accept offensive requests. If you accept a request, the idea is that it plays: when you play it, tap “Played” in the app.
If a guest reports that an accepted song didn't play, WeSound looks into it and, if they're right, refunds them. So it pays to accept only what you're really going to play.
