Is it safe to tip a DJ with WeSound?
WeSound is an app and website to request songs from a live DJ and support them with a tip. Payments are processed by Stripe and the tip is held on your card until the DJ accepts your request. If they decline or time runs out, it's released; and if they accept and it never plays, you can make a claim in the app.
What happens to your money at each step?
The tip is set aside when you pay and only charged when the DJ accepts. Stripe handles the hold and the charge with manual capture.
You pay for the request
With Apple Pay, Google Pay or card. The tip amount is held on your card, but not charged yet.
The DJ accepts
At that point the held tip is charged. Exactly the amount you chose, with no surcharges.
The DJ declines or doesn't answer in time
The hold is released and you pay nothing.
The accepted song never plays
Tell us in the app with "The song didn't play". We look into it and, if you're right, we refund you.
How WeSound protects you
Payments through Stripe
Payments are processed by Stripe, an external provider. WeSound isn't a bank.
Apple Pay and Google Pay
Pay with the method you already use on your phone, or by card.
A hold, not a charge
The tip is only charged if the DJ accepts your request.
Email is optional
You can request without giving your email. If you do, it's for your receipt and to save the request to your account.
Dedications checked
We check every dedication before it reaches the booth, and some words aren't allowed.
DJs who commit
DJs agree to treat guests with respect and not to accept offensive requests.
What do I do if the song didn't play?
If the DJ accepted your request and the song never played, open the request in the app and use the "The song didn't play" option. There's a time limit to let us know, and the app shows it.
We look into every claim. If you're right, we refund you and what the DJ receives is adjusted. That's why it helps to follow your request in the app: it tells you when the DJ accepts it and when it plays.
How are DJ payments protected?
To receive tips, the DJ sets up how they get paid, with Stripe verification. Tips from accepted requests go to their bank account.
Until the DJ completes verification, what they receive may be held, and new DJs have a cap on tips per night until they're verified.

Questions about security
Why do I see a pending charge if the DJ hasn't accepted yet?
That's the hold on your tip. It isn't a charge: if the DJ doesn't accept your request, it's released and you pay nothing.
Do I need an account to pay?
No. You can request and pay without an account. Email is optional.
Could an offensive dedication reach the booth?
We check every dedication before it reaches the booth, and some words aren't allowed. DJs also agree not to accept offensive requests.

Request your song with peace of mind
You're only charged if the DJ accepts. And with the app, you follow your request until it plays.
