How it works

From the DJ's QR code to the dance floor

Scan the DJ's QR code and request your song with a tip. The DJ decides whether it plays.

How does WeSound work?

WeSound is an app and website to request songs from a live DJ and support them with a tip. Scan the DJ's QR code with your phone camera, search for your song, choose a tip and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or card. The tip is held and only charged if the DJ accepts your request.

On your phone

This is how you request a song

It's the same flow you'll see in your browser when you scan a DJ's QR code. Names and amounts are examples.

For guests

How do I request a song from the DJ on my phone?

Nothing to install and no account to create. It all happens in your phone's browser.

  1. Scan the DJ's QR code

Point your phone camera at the code the DJ has in the booth or on a screen. Their page opens in your browser, at an address like wesound.pro/j/dj-name.

  2. Find your song

Type the title or the artist. Search uses the Spotify catalogue, so you get the exact version you want to hear.

  3. Add a dedication if you like

It's optional. We check every dedication before it reaches the booth, and some words aren't allowed.

  4. Choose your tip

There are four levels: A little thanks, Good tip, Big tip and Legend. They start from the minimum tip the DJ sets for the night.

  5. Pay and wait for the answer

With Apple Pay, Google Pay or card. The tip is held on your card. With the app, or by email if you give it, you'll know if the DJ accepts.

Your tip

When is the tip charged?

When the DJ accepts your request. Paying doesn't charge you yet: the amount is held on your card. If the DJ declines or the time to answer runs out, the hold is released and you pay nothing.

You pay exactly the tip you choose. There are no surcharges or service fees for guests.

If the DJ accepts your song and it never plays, you can tell us in the app with the "The song didn't play" option. We look into it and, if you're right, we refund you. The app shows how long you have to let us know.

For DJs

How does WeSound work for a DJ?

DJs use the WeSound app. Signing up is free.

  1. Create an event

Give it a name, the venue and the night, and set the minimum tip for that event.

  2. Go live and show the QR code

When the set starts, the DJ activates the event. Anyone who scans their QR code lands straight on that set. The code can be shown in the booth or shared as a link.

  3. Accept or decline each request

Every request arrives with the song, the dedication and the amount. One tap to decide. If the DJ declines, the guest pays nothing.

  4. Mark the song as played

When the song goes on, the DJ taps “Played”. If it isn't marked in time, the request is cancelled and the guest gets the tip back.

  5. Get tips paid to their account

The DJ sets up how they get paid, with Stripe verification, and tips from accepted requests go to their bank account. WeSound keeps 15% of each accepted tip.

Questions about how it works

Do I need to download an app to request a song?

No. Scan the DJ's QR code and do everything in your phone's browser. The app is for following your request: it tells you when the DJ accepts or declines it and when it plays.

Can I request several songs from the same DJ?

Yes, but there's a limit on how many active requests you can have with the same DJ at once. Once one is resolved, you can make another.

Does the DJ have to play my song?

No. The DJ decides what plays in their set. That's why the tip is only charged if they accept your request.

Does it connect to the DJ's software?

WeSound doesn't connect to DJ software. Requests arrive in the WeSound app on the DJ's phone and the DJ decides which ones to play.

The next song is yours

Look for the DJ's QR code in the booth. And if you DJ, get the app and make your own.

Coming to your phone very soon

The app is about to land on the App Store and Google Play.

You don't need it to request a song: scan the DJ's QR code and do it right in your browser.
