What WeSound is

WeSound is an app and website to request songs from a live DJ and support them with a tip.

It solves one specific moment at any set: someone wants to hear a song and has no good way to ask for it. Today that means walking up to the booth, shouting or passing a note, and the tip, if there is one, is cash. With WeSound the request reaches the booth in order, with its dedication and its tip, and the DJ decides whether it goes into the set.

The product is built around one idea: request your song and tip your DJ.

How a request works

  1. The guest scans the DJ's QR code

The DJ's page opens in their phone's browser. No app, no account.

  2. They pick a song, a dedication and a tip

Search the Spotify catalogue and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or card. The tip is held.

  3. The DJ accepts or declines

If they accept, the tip is charged. If they decline or time runs out, the hold is released and nothing is charged.

  4. The song plays

The DJ taps “Played”. If it doesn't play, the guest can flag it in the app and WeSound reviews it.

How each tip is split

WeSound takes a 15% fee on each accepted tip. Signing up is free for DJs, and guests pay only the tip they choose.

Why the design removes friction

Every product decision aims to make requesting effortless and to make sure nobody pays for something they don't get.

  • No account, no app

Requests happen in the browser after scanning a QR code. Email is optional: it's for the receipt and to save the request to your account.

  • One-tap payment

Apple Pay, Google Pay or card. Guests don't have to type in their details if they're already on their phone.

  • Held until the DJ accepts

You're only charged if the DJ accepts. Requesting carries no risk for the guest, which makes it easier to go ahead.

  • The DJ stays in control

They set the minimum tip for each event and accept or decline every request. Their set is still theirs.
