A DJ in the booth, one hand on the mixer, checks a WeSound song request on a phone.

What is WeSound for a DJ?

WeSound is an app and website to request songs from a live DJ and support them with a tip. For you as a DJ, it's a tidy way to take requests: they reach your phone with the song, the dedication and the amount, instead of notes on napkins or people leaning into the booth.

Your crowd doesn't need to install anything. They scan your QR code with their phone camera, your page opens in their browser and they request from there, with Apple Pay, Google Pay or card.

How do I start getting requests?

Everything happens in the WeSound app.

  1. Sign up for free

Create your DJ profile and your QR code is ready straight away. Show it in the booth or share the link.

  2. Create your event

Give it a name, the venue and the night, and set the minimum tip for that event.

  3. Activate it when your set starts

With the event live, anyone who scans your QR code lands straight on that set.

  4. Accept or decline

Every request arrives with the song, the dedication and the amount. One tap to decide. If you decline, the guest pays nothing.

  5. Tap “Played”

Once the song goes on, tap “Played” so the guest knows. If you don't mark it in time, the request is cancelled and the guest gets the tip back.

You decide what plays

Nothing makes it into your set unless you accept it.

  • Your QR code, always at hand

The same code for every event. Show it in the booth or on a screen, or share your link.

  • Your minimum tip

Set it for each event. The tip levels guests see start from that minimum.

  • Accept or decline

No obligation to play anything. Only what you accept is charged.

  • Dedications checked

We check every dedication before it reaches you, and some words aren't allowed.

  • A limit per guest

Each guest has a limit on active requests with you at once.

  • The exact version

Guests search the Spotify catalogue, so you know exactly which song and artist they want.

Fee

How much does WeSound keep from each tip?

Signing up is free. WeSound keeps 15% of each accepted tip and the other 85% is yours. Requests you decline aren't charged at all.

Accepted tip (example)WeSound (15%)For the DJ (85%)
€4€0.60€3.40
€6€0.90€5.10
€10€1.50€8.50
€16€2.40€13.60

Example amounts. What you receive is adjusted if a tip has to be refunded, for instance when an accepted song never plays.

Getting paid

How do I get my tips?

In the app you set up how you get paid, with Stripe verification. Tips from the requests you accept go to your bank account.

Until you complete verification, what you receive may be held. New DJs also have a cap on tips per night until they're verified.

WeSound isn't a bank. Payments are processed by an external provider, Stripe.

What do we ask of DJs?

When you sign up, you agree to treat your crowd with respect and not to accept offensive requests. If you accept a song, the idea is that it plays: if it doesn't, the guest can tell us and, if they're right, we refund them.
